Mark’s fair share!

Mark ‘Pigford’ Ponsford kicks us off! He has had more than his fair share of Zeds.

“The attached photos show my old girlfriend and her mum (the nurse) on the Z900 in my parents’ back garden. Since then I’ve had a couple of dozen Z900/Z1000s and more recently a Harris which
I sold to buy my current, green Z900A4 in green!”

He says: “I got my first Kawasaki Z900A4 back in the early 1980s – I swapped it for a very clean T140V… Back then there was no eBay or mobile phones, so I’d arranged to meet the bloke mid-way between us both at Fleet Services on the M3. We checked each other’s bikes out and did a straight swap, there and then! What could possibly go wrong?

Denis’ Zed from New Zealand!

Here’s Denis Williams from Rotorua in New Zealand, it’s 1977 just in case the flares didn’t give the year away!

Jim’s bus work

Not too many people can confess to rebuilding their motorcycle inside an old bus! Jim Mckenzie made good use of his unconventional workshop, and the end result is still in his life today.

Paul and his 1977 treat!

It’s still 1977 and Paul Cuthbertson treated himself to this Z1000 after passing his motorcycle test on a Honda 250 G5. That ‘King & Queen’ saddle looks super comfy!

Ian’s turbo!

Ian Martin Bowen took his Z1000R and modified it with forks, wheels and a swingarm from a Kawasaki 750 Turbo. The rear mudguard was ditched and a chrome Harris 4-into-1 exhaust replaced the original system.

Steve’s 1984 A2 and Z650

It’s 1984 and Steve Webster couldn’t keep his mum and aunty off his Z1000 A2 and his mate’s Z650.

Darren’s sensible Z1000?

The ST shafty was meant to be the sensible Z1000, it didn’t stop owners from tarting them up. Darren Groucutt added a bikini fairing, a spray job and red grips!

Matt’s white wheels!

Matt Morgan’s owned this Z1000ST since 1980, the shaft-driven Z looks ace with the white wheels and frame. Sadly the matching leathers no longer fit!

John’s subtle mods!

This Z1R appears to be pretty standard, bit the closer you look you soon spot the period mods. John McGeeham fitted Marzocchi piggy back shocks, a 4-into-1 pipe and a deep braced alloy swingarm, these were all common upgrades for the Z range.
