This one was subject of a full restoration by Pete Day. He says: “I did this for a customer who has a range of other Yamahas, including R1s and OW-01s.”
The YZF750SP was sold alongside the 750R as the basis of the homologation World Superbike machine. Differences included carbs, cams, valve gear and close ratio gearbox. As a ride, it was a different proposition to the more common R, which is why restos like this are important.
