Star letter: Helping hand

While reading the Q&A in the July edition I noticed that 'Grommit'" had sent an email trying to source a mudguard for his Honda CD200T-B project.

Star letter: Helping hand

Five years ago I purchased a very high quality glass fibre replica from Skidmarx in Dorset. I took the liberty of calling them to see if they are still available and they will manufacture one for Grommit at a cost of £29.95 plus £7.50 for the carriage.

Their telephone number is 01305 780808. I can highly recommend these guys, they are always very helpful and their products are a perfect fit.

Good luck with a great mag, and also to Grommit with his restoration.

The fibreglass replacement sounds a bargain and Skidmark previouslly known as Acrybre I believe are a good company who I have used several times. As for the rear mudguard itself, I had to replace mine many yeas ago on my somewhat travelled Benly. I ended up buying a soft plastic front mudguard from a trials/motocross bike (then about £10 but we are talking circa 1985)It was basically jammed in at the back two screws held it at the origiinal mounting point and the light cluster screwed on. Being soft plastic drilling holes was easy. It had a tendency to jiggle around and the police did once stop me but were happy when I explained it was perfectly secure. Main thing it didn't rust. Probably not the right solution for a restoration but it will get the bike back on the road a finding a useable original is most unlikely.
