Shark Speed-R

It’s nice to see a ‘fast sounding’ helmet actually priced so you don’t have to take out a mortgage to buy it.

Shark Speed-R

The new Shark Speed-R replaces the outgoing RSI range, which we always thought had a rather unfortunate name… The Speed-R is the new fibre-composite helmet in the Shark line-up and it features a double-bladed spoiler which allows air to flow above and below, therefore extracting warm air from the helmet. There’s also a spoiler on the base of the lid which stabilises the lid, giving it better stability at speed.

Sounds more like a body-kit for a car, than a helmet, but if it’s as comfy and performs as well as the RSI, we won’t complain.

You’ve also got an optically correct visor, which is locked in place safely at four points and it’s also anti-scratch and anti-fog. We like the Double-D-Ring safety retention, a sunshield and the ‘Easy Fit’ system so we can slip our specs on easier.

Not bad and has an ‘all-up’ weight of just 1450g.
