Q&A: DR Carb Conundrum

Q: Can you confirm this bike as a DR350SE? The chassis number is SK42A-115***. It is registered on an ‘N’ and is electric start.

Q&A: DR Carb Conundrum

I am quite pleased with it but think the carb may be wrong; the rubber pipe from the air filter seems too big and the carb has a steel adaptor to make it fit. I know that some of these bikes had a carb change to the diaphragm type. I just need to know which one should be fitted and I can hunt one down.

The ID number on the carb I have is tdo, this is a Mikuni flat slide, manual operation which may be from an earlier bike.

Clymer is not clear on this topic. Any info will be appreciated.

A: This is a bit of a mystery. I have checked and there is no adaptor shown for the air cleaner pipe to carb joint on any year of this Suzuki model. There is just a plain jubilee type clip that is used. Perhaps the rubber hose has stretched and someone has made up the adaptor to make it fit.

According to the records I have the carb diaphragm is the same for all of the years too. The Suzuki part number is 13507-44B00 and it seems to be still available.

The SK42A part of the frame numberdoes correspond to a Suzuki DR350SE if that is of help to you.
