Missing parts

I’m a bit behind I know but I just wanted to put the record straight on some things you wrote when putting together the CB250RS.

The centrestand pin is still available new: 50526-KN8-000 is the latest part number, retails at £12.26 plus VAT and Honda has stock, although not many in the Ghent warehouse. Any Honda bike dealer ought to have one in three days.

I think Pete referred to the front fork finish on the bikes as originally polished – they were actually black and matt. He’s right that the alloy footrest holders are long discontinued, but even if he could have got new ones the left-hand one would not have had the pivot for the gearchange on it as this was always a separate part. I must admit the part number will not come to me, but I know it’s obsolete anyway so you’d be lucky to find one.

I hope I don’t sound like a rivet counter; my two Rs are no advertisement for original machines, being kept going with any parts I can find which fit and are cheap. I do look forward to the next instalment of the rebuild though.
