Hero rides to help others
By: Web Editor
Andy Reid – a soldier who was severely injured by an improvised explosive device last year, in Afghanistan – is set to attempt a 900-mile journey from Lands End to John O’ Groats to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.
Having lost his left leg above the knee, his right leg just below the knee and most of his right arm in the explosion, Andy will make the journey, dubbed the ‘Num-Bum-Run’, on a specially adapted Boom Trike. The soldier from the 3rd Yorks, Old Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, hopes to raise in excess of £20,000 for the charity, setting off on this August Bank Holiday. There’ll be a chance to show your support to Andy ahead of the event when he takes part in his final training day at Millennium Motorcycles in St Helens on Sunday 25 July. More details are available from www.ridesafebacksafe.co.uk and donations can be made at www.numbumrun.co.uk
