Hello...
By: Web Editor
Welcome to the June issue of Classic Motorcycle Mechanics. While I’m sitting here writing this it hasn’t passed me by that our press day is the same day as the general election. Other than the fact that I seem to be the only person working, by the time you read this we’ll know who’s leading our country.
And just as with the political parties there are definite ebbs and flows in the bikes that are popular at any one time. One area that’s picking up a lot of support at the moment is the small capacity class – not everybody is buying the Superbikes they couldn’t afford when they were younger. Many are buying the bikes that they learned to ride on, to recapture those first feelings of excitement and freedom that came with two wheels. So, we just had to show you the beautiful Honda CB125S on page 137.
Sister title The Classic Motorcycle’s show at Stafford County showground was a massive success. The show is getting bigger by the year and the variety of machines has never been larger. I only intended to wander and watch but there were so many bits and pieces that I should have bought I’ll be going to the Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show in October with plenty of spending money. I can’t wait.
A bit of office banter led to the RC30 and OW01 test in this issue – these two bikes probably split opinions more than any others. And talking of splitting opinions, we think we’ve found the nicest modified Suzuki Katana in the country.
If we’re wrong, feel free to tell us about any that are better.
And then there’s the bloke with Ducatis littered through his house. It’s a bachelor’s dream. But if nothing else, use this to prove to your other half that they’re getting off lightly with you spending a couple of evenings in the shed... Enjoy the issue.
