Hello...June 2011

The show season has well and truly started. We’ve had an early burst of great weather that has brought out even the most ardent of fair weather show-goers and riders.

Hello...June 2011

The recent Classic Motorcycle Show at Stafford was, in my eyes, the true season opener.

Yes, there have been some very good shows earlier in the year but it’s the Stafford shows at the start and end of the year that seem to get the masses on their classics mobilised.

These shows are a great way of gauging exactly what’s going on in the classic Japanese world too. It’s a way to see where the market is going with prices and the thing that struck me at the recent Stafford was that there are still plenty of machines going for reasonable money and the prices asked all depend on the individual seller. Unlike the British classic market, there doesn’t seem to be a set price for any particular machine. And that’s got to be a good thing.

As I write this it’s early May and we’ve had weeks of cracking weather already. All of my bikes are out from under their winter covers, re-commissioned and being ridden. So, if you’re not out riding your bikes yet then come on, finish that project off or get your stored bike running again and then take them out on the road where they belong and enjoy them.
