Colour wise
By: Web Editor
I read with interest the Tool Expert ‘Bench grinders’ page in the July edition of Classic Motorcycle Mechanics.
I have a supply of small grinding wheels of various shapes intended for use with a power tool. What the article didn’t cover, and what I want to know is, what particular purposes are the different colour stones intended for?
I have grey, white and pink wheels.

The grit of the stones generally indicates the characteristic of the grit. Pink and white are used on harder steels and break down quickly to avoid burns. The grey grit is harder, longer lasting, and suited to grinding low to high carbon steels; it’s a general purpose grit. CMM
