Happy 20th birthday to Akrapovic exhausts! As a thank you, it is giving owners of modern classics a real pressie – by re-releasing some of the company’s gorgeous exhausts.

Akrapovic exhaust systems

Igor Akrapovic made his name in the late 1980s making pipes for German superbike teams. Soon, he was supplying almost the entire World Superbike paddock and became a must-have on 1990s race-reps. The problem with many suppliers of aftermarket pipes is that – after a few years – they stop manufacturing for your model of machine and move on to the newer stuff. This makes period tuning parts more difficult to get hold of than original.

With this in mind, and with 1990s machines becoming more popular than ever, Akrapovic’s UK importer Performance Parts Ltd will soon have stock of full systems for the likes of Honda’s CBR900RR FireBlade (1992-1999), Kawasaki ZX-7R (1996-2002), Yamaha YZF750 (1993-1998), FZR1000 EXUP (1989-1995), Thunderace (1996-2004), Suzuki GSX-R1100 (1989-1992) and Suzuki Bandit 1200 (1996-2005.)

Prices start at £499 for the GSX-R, £525 for Blade and YZF, while price for the Bandit and ZX-7R have yet to be confirmed. Not bad, considering we remember Skorpions (Akra’s original name, pre-1999) going for almost double that.

Price: £499-£525+
